MOWING CREW

#1 - WHY are we paying these people to mow when there isn't any grass to mow? This is a waste of the HOA money? Also, the owner came by our house today and troed to instigate an actual fight with my husband! What kind of people do we have working for us? This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of since I?’ve lived here 1994. We never had this type of trouble when our previous board members were in office. It would not have been tolerated. And what?’s even worse, the owner said he was advised by ?“the cop?” that he could do what he wanted?” ?– in order the cop gave him permission to fight my husband! What in the world is wrong with these people? I have never had to deal with soemthing as patheic as this since I?’ve lived here. If something isn?’t done immediately ?– I will take this to the next level, and it won?’t be the board. This is unacceptable behavior from one of our vendors, that we pay! This guy is upset because he knows that we (and several others for that matter) called and told them not to mow on several occasions. This does not constitute the behavior my husband had to tolerate as a member of this assoc. My husband even tried to walk away and the guy continued to run his mouth. I want to hear from someone that something has been done to rectify this situation and that it will NEVER happen again. Or I will report it to the police and let them know exactly what this guy told us.

Gathering facts / Police Report

Let me begin by saying that I was not present at this incident and that the police were called to investigate. Until a police report is recieved we will not pass any unfounded judgements. Once a copy of the incident report is recieved from the police department it will be made available to anyone that wants a copy. Once we have all the facts then the SSHOA Board of Directors will decide whether or not malitious conduct occured and by whom the conduct was inctigated. Be assured that if the mowing contractor was out of line then the board will take action to rectify the problem.

First off, My apoligies for the delay in responding. I have had internet issues at my house for several months and have only been able to check my e-mail at work. I am back up and running and this is the first time I have been able to look at this site in several months. In regards to the mowing incident that occurred this summer between Mr. Baxter and Mr. Gillum (our contractor)let me set you straight with the facts of the incident and not Carole Baxter's aka ''007'' and ''anonymous'' delusional one sided story. (IP addresses are a wonderful thing) There is a police report on file that was made the day this incident occurred by the officer's that responded. There were also two independent witnesses to the incident that saw what happened from start to finish. Carole Baxter did not see what happened as she was not home at the time. Let me give you all a little insight into Carole Baxter and why she is so upset with this board of directors and why she chooses to post lie after lie on this site in an attempt to get you fired up and make you as miserable as she is. Two years ago I defeated Carole Baxter in the HOA election. What prompted me to run in the first place was the fact that she along with board member Tim Hubbard and Jenny Sanders threatened to take legal action against me because she did not like the color of the roof that I put on my house. I collected proxies and defeated her in that election. Since that time she has chosen not to attend the annual meetings or become involved with the neighborhood crimewatch. What she has decided to do was call and complain about any and everything on a weekly basis. It is clear that Mrs. Baxter is still upset over losing her place on the board and continues to act like a child.

Let me start by saying our hired contractor did NOTHING wrong!! As Alan Gillum was in the addition doing the mowing one afternoon, he happend to have to drive by Mr. and Mrs. Baxter's house to cut around the Stop 11 entrances and the common area. As he drove by the Baxter's, Mr. Gillum simply waved and smiled at Mr. Baxter before parking and beginning to unload a mower to do his work. As Mr. Gillum got out of his truck, Mr. Baxter who was in his front yard at the time, threw down the water hose he had in his hands and quickly walked off of his property and across the street with clenched fists and began screaming at Mr. Gillum asking him what his problem was and if he wanted to fight. Mr. Gillum told Mr. Baxter he did not want to fight him but if he continued to threaten him and take an offensive posture towards him that he would not hesitate to defend himself. Mr. Baxter continued to egg Mr. Gillum on and scream at him calling him every name in the book for another 30 seconds or so in an attempt to get him to fight. He then turned around and walked back to his yard. That my friends is the truth. The truth of the matter is supported by Mr. Gillum along with two independent witnesses...One that lives near where the incident occurred and watched the whole thing from their front porch and another that was just turning into the neighborhood and pulled over and watched the entire thing in the rear view mirror of their car. The Southern Springs Board of Directors fully supports Mr. Gillum and in fact we have signed him to another year long contract to maintain our common areas next year. He is doiing an excellent job and we are lucky to have him working for us. Mr. Baxter's behavior was completely unacceptabe as was Mrs. Baxter's attempt to lie and change the facts of the incident to try to protect her husband. I will leave you all with only one small piece of advice. Don't believe everything you read on the forum from an angry homeowner that has a clear agenda. If you are truly interested in learning the facts or want to know why the board chooses to switch management companies or have an audit done, ask a board member.
