To Whom It May Concern as it relates to the disturbances from the Smith Family Center Property on May 25 – May 26, 2018,

The fields at the Smith Family Center were rented out by our Community Use of Schools office to a religious group for use from 3:00pm – 10:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 and 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm on Saturday, May 26, 2018.   Details regarding their exact use of the fields to include amplifiers and loud music was not included in their application or request for use.  Nevertheless, their contract for use does not excuse their violation of the City  Noise Ordinance(s).  Our Community Use of Schools office has been made aware of the noise complaints and disturbances from Friday and Saturday night and will address the group accordingly.  In addition, as a result of this learning experience, our Community Use of Schools office will seek to obtain more information and details regarding planned activities for groups renting our open fields, especially those that are scheduled to last past dark, and be sure to reference the applicable City of Charlotte Noise Ordinance.

Thanks again for letting me know about your concerns and please continue to keep me informed of any such disturbances or issues on the Smith Family Center property.   Also, please do not hesitate to contact police regarding such disturbances on the property.  My sincere apologies on behalf of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for the disturbance this event caused you and your family this past weekend.

If you read the updated 4/1/18 list from the link enclosed this church group renting the fields clearly can't folow rules.    It rained both days off and on and over night so that would violate rule #19.   Then they parked all over the grass / fields so that violated Rule # 21 which states absolutely no parking on the lawn / grass. 

Anyway hopefully this groupl will not be allowed use of this site again.   

Officer Mohammad our community officer said they had numeous 911 calls and that CMPD was not notified of the lease or aware prior to the event.
