Nighthawks eat mosquitoes. Let’s keep nighthawks in our skies.

The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act will help bring the common nighthawk back to our cities and towns so they can dive, swoop, and feed on mosquitoes, moths, beetles, and other insects. Please tell your member of Congress to help recover nighthawks and all at risk species by supporting the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.

Decades ago, the sight of nighthawks catching and eating insects on the wing most summer evenings was common in the skies above buildings, treetops, and grasslands across almost all of the country. They nested on the ground nearby in rural areas, and even on flat gravel rooftops in cities!

But 50% of these mosquito-eating birds have disappeared since then—and scientists are sounding the alarm about stopping the loss of habitat and the threat from toxic chemicals.

Martin, urge your member of Congress to help save our nation’s nighthawks and all wildlife in decline by supporting the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.

When passed and signed into law, the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act will be the most significant investment in wildlife conservation in many decades. It will fund state and tribal led efforts to help wildlife at risk and to prevent wildlife from becoming endangered.

It is not too late for the common nighthawk. There is a lot we can we do for this species and other wildlife in decline, but states and tribes need the funds to take on their recovery.

Right now the federal funding available is about five percent of what we’d need to prevent wildlife from becoming endangered in every state. The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act will fix that! Take action now for this crucial wildlife legislation.
