walk-arounds

Posted in: Murray Hill
Hey everyone,
I'm curious to know if anybody at MHNA has experience with foot-patrols by neighbnors concerned about disruptive parties, firecrackers, underage drinking, car break-ins, etc. We have an informal neighborhood watch over in the 2700-2800 blocks of Frederick and Murray and we've experimented a bit with this. Any comments would be appreciated and I will gladly share my impressions of this approach to neighborhood stability.

Having some recent experience in dealing with students and having them be very near eviction, here is my ''two cents''. Having a foot patrol is somewhat ineffective. It does not allow for the police officers to do their job properly. If we were just to contact the police with regards to a party and wait to show up, this can be better handled on a case by case basis. More to come on the web site with a step-by-step solution that has been effective for us in dealing with a problem property.
