Police Report
Corporal Slaughter
In the past 30 days:
?· 1 burglary on Montrose
?· 1 theft ?– kids missing cell phone
?· 1 arrest @ car wash ?– drunk vagrant
Citizens Academy starting soon (flyers handed out)
Weekly classes ?– 7-9pm. Learn about drug problems, burglaries,
There is an online application to be turned in to Leut Gibson
People who take the class can use a community patrol car and radio/cell phone to call into the police directly.
There have to be 2 people in the car in order to use it.
Only in car until 8pm.
Good class to get familiarized.
Isabel?’s husband is interested. Does anyone else want to volunteer.

Fire dept. report
No fires in Feb.
Problem person: A female is using a cell phone, calling in false alarms to bad addresses.
Fire dept program ?– community fire marshall program.
Call fire station headquarters, 765-1120.
CPR course, to become community fire marshall.
Charitable work as a result. Blood pressure checks.
Fire dept program is one day a week for 6 weeks. 8 hour CPR class is the longest to get accredited in CPR.
Mayor and council person went through the program.
Montessori school update from fire marshall ?– march 7th court date postponed until April (no date given).
Still doing weekly inspections.
No updates.
Question: should I have my electrical system checked ?– it?’s 30 years old.
Answer: Yes, get it checked.
Question: Fire dept doesn?’t check for you. Go to a licensed electrician.
Other services:
Smoke detectors for free being offered. They will install as well.
Fire dept. will inspect your home and create an evacuation plan.
You cannot get a burn permit from the fire dept.


Property Development Presentation #1
Adam works for a med property development company, Skyland Development.
2 new homes from the ground up off of Jones St by the car wash.
2 lots
He will be onsite building on the house.
Hardwood floors, granite
3 bedroom, 2.5 bath.
No garages (match other houses)
One has a front porch.
Other front stoop and back porch.
2 storey houses
55ft frontage, depth 150 ft.
They will do sod in the front and back.
Parking pad in front.
They own the lots (for a year).
There are For Sale signs still up (he doesn?’t know why)
Price point: (approx.) $190s-$230s
Hardy plank siding. Brick crawl space.

Hunter Smith: Drainage is a major problem on that street. Pay attention.
Adam: We will grade the property and shoot everything before it?’s finalized.
Isabel: Start to finish both at same time?
Adam: Yes

Yards will be clean during construction
There will be using porta-potty (they will use locks so vagrants won?’t use them).
No addresses yet.
They will be selling the houses themselves with their real estate agents.

She has 3 lots that make up an acre.
She has a large backlot to subdivide to sell to a builder.


Our nhood assoc. will not vote on this. She is outside of our association.


Montessori School Update:
Rezoning passed.

We are doing a neighborhood cleanup next month, the Saturday immediately after our meeting in April.

Velodrome construction update

Sumner Recreation Center ?– what?’s the status?
There is a meeting next Thursday to discuss that by Parks and Recreation.
There is no status on the rec center. There is no city money to improve. They consider
Roof leaks.
City has promising to do something about it for 15 years. Money has vanished.
15 years of nothing.
We could explore private funds, grants, etc.
Do the Atlanta Hawks have a foundation ?– rehabbing of
Monies have to be given to a 501-C3.
Teresa has a neighbor who could help.
Reuben Thurman, city grant writer, goes after money for the city from public sources.
Call Community Foundation ?– they do grants.
Need to have tax-exempt status. We could establish something like for Sumner.

Hunter: We need to watch each other?’s homes.

Women of Promise Lunch at Bowden Center
One burglar was caught ?– Julie Broadus, saw the guy. 17 year old who lives on DeLowe.
Revenue bond ?– electric rate to go down next month. Water and sewer rate hike postponed for a couple of months.
Email Teresa if you see water main break and give an address.
Email Teresa with code violations and give an address.

Lots of sand on Linwood and Montrose left over from ice storm.
Lots of gravel on Semmes.

Tim is interested in helping.

We never applied for tax exempt status.
Don?’t go through the city.
