Water Rate Increase

Posted in: St Andrews
It appears that we are paying $44.90/mo. for water and maintenance of the sewer pipelines. We are also paying $21.26/mo. for wastewater disposal by the regional water authority. The total is $66.16/mo. I checked with OS Water Department and was told the average home uses about 7000 gallons of water per month and their water rate is $6.50 for the first 3000 gallons and $1.25 for each 1000 gallons more. So for a typical home, the OS water rates are $10.25/month. So it looks like we are paying $34.65 too much per month. How will that affect the marketability of our homes.

Gulfpark Estates Lessons

TESI's recent app for an increase of more than 100% on monthly rates was denied because of public response. Instead the rate was increased from $19 to $27/mo. However, in 5/07 the Commission will consider any further increases for TESI necessitated by Katrina. Besides considering the economic well being of the communities served, the commission compared the level of service expected after the increase with what is being provided elsewhere for that amount. So we are currently paying $17 more for water service (including incidental sewer maintenance)than residents of Gulfpark estates.

Water Rates

Al,
As you know, it has been sometime since I have visited this web site, but from here on out, it will be at least once a week. Like a Monday ritual. You and I both know how the ''System'' works. I would suggest you speak with Greg Williams on this since he still owns all the rights on this project through St. Andrews. If you do, let me know, or rather, let all of us knows what he says.
