July 2009 Board Meeting

Minutes

Member, Dan Cook, passed away on July 18, 2009. A condolence card will be sent to his wife from the association. There is approximately $1300 in checking with $200 to be deposited. Several invoices are still to be paid. Check Hendrix will update current member list. "Getting to know you" event was not as hoped, even though we did a house to house flier. About dozen people showed up. There will be one more junk pickup for 2009, which will be in September.
A reopening celebration for Farnsley Park will be held on July 24th at 2 p.m. Brent emailed out notice and same flyers were delivered house to house through his office about this event. Margaret Warner will attend reopening to ask parks dept. regarding hours of park, water turn off time, is it on a timer. She will report at next meeting.
Ballots for election will be mailed on July 27 and are due back no later then August 3rd.
Median at Furman & Taylorsville Road was discussed. How much is a reasonalbe amount to be set aside for this project. Need shrubbery, seasonal flowers/bulbs and boulders. Possible lighting. Raymond is working up proposal for bids which will be sent to several landscaping companys.
Brian Nichter, associate pastor, Hunsinger Lane Baptist Church is interested in doing some outreach/random acts of kindness in our neighborhood. Margaret Warner talked with him at Farnsley Park. He has a group of kids who would be willing to help with Operation Brightside cleanup or a possible cookout at park. Margaret will contact him and invite him to attend August board meeting.
By-law refresher course, which is offered through Metro Government, will be offered to all board members.
Patty Forgarty is putting together a Welcome Packet from the HGSNA to new families who have moved into the neighborhood in which there will be a coupon for one-year free membership.
