Hidden Lakes Homeowners Association

Lake Access and Firearm Use - 9/12/2007

Please be aware that access to the ‘hidden’ lake is no longer available. This property was in Marlon Cunningham’s name in care for the Hidden Lake HOA. Mr. Cunningham deeded the 1/3 portion of the lake to the owner of the other 2/3 portions of the lake without the knowledge of the association. Mr. Jeff Hughes has posted this property with No Trespassing signs. I am waiting on a response from Mr. Cunningham regarding other common area property.

I am aware of numerous reports that Mr. Hughes has been discharging firearms on his property, and that local Law Enforcement agencies were contacted to investigate. As a point of information, the Hidden Lake neighborhood is located within the Fairview City limits; Mr. Hughes’ property is located outside of Fairview City limits, and falls under the laws of Williamson County. On Tuesday, September 11, 2007, I spoke with Captain Fred Bennett with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department concerning the law as it relates to discharging firearms. Per Captain Bennett, it is not against the law to discharge a firearm in Williamson County as long as it is done in a safe manner. I also received a response from the Fairview City Police that states it is illegal to discharge a firearm within Fairview City limits. If you feel that you are in danger, you may contact the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department and they will respond.

I spoke with Mr. and Mrs. Hughes on Sunday, September 9, 2007, and they assured me they are shooting safely towards the woods at the back of their property.
