Incident on Thames

Posted in: Cambridge
Ok. I called the police. There was about 50 kids walking down Thames at about 11p.m. As I was calling the Police arrived. Note that there was only 1 police officer. Some kids ran, others just walked away like he wasnt talking to them. The police officer NEVER called for another car nor did he attempt to chase the kids that were running. The kids that he did talk to all were released. The kids continued to walk the street in large groups all that night. Now tell me. Why are we calling the POLICE? Can we make the parents in this neighborhood responsible?
Incident on Thames

Thank you for calling. It will take the concerned citizens like yourself doing this to make the problem stop. However, County code states that on the weekend, curfew is 12:00. This is probably why the office could not do anything. Only on week nights is the curfew 11:00. But don't give up! You did the right thing. And if you see them congrigating like this again, then call again. I promise you the police officers are not upset that you are making a report. They need our help to break up this type of behavior. But they have to abide by the County Ordinances as well. I've attempting to contact someone at the police department to see what else we can do to stop this activity. Did you contact you Neighborhood Block Captain too? If not, make sure that the next time, you call him as well, let him get the other Block Captains on the phone and have them start riding the streets. I know we have done it. The kids want a place to hang, well, they need to be doing it in the back yard of whomever they are visiting. If they are not visiting anyone here... they need to move on. Contact your block captain, and if that doesn't help, contact Kelly Williams, Neighborhood Watch Captain or Raymond Morris, Cambridge Reward Coordinator.
If you don't have these numbers, you may feel free to email me. I'll get them for you. The same goes for anyone else who needs assistance.
Keep up the good work.

Blessings,
Carla Padgett-Morris

Thank you for calling. I am glad to hear that there are other citizens who are keeping an eye on our streets. The response time seemed to be quick from your post...that is positive.

I did notice the CASE NUMBER post in the discussion area. Next time you call get the case number and log it on the post....this is a tracking method of calls, response and follow-up for the neighborhood watch crime report.

I hope that we all continue to deter this time of activity.
