There are 2 pumps that work in tandem to supply the water wheel with water. The pump in the pond pumps water to a holding area just below the wheel, and then the pump below the wheel pumps the water up and dumps it over the wheel. We discovered that the pump in the pond was malfunctioning. This pump is under a 2 year warranty. The service company took the pump and supplied a replacement the same day.

After installing the new pump the water now flows over the wheel as it’s supposed to. We will need to follow up and cover the exposed power cord when the ground softens up.

8/17 Water stopped flowing

During lunch today I discovered that the wheel was not turning nor was the water flowing over the wheel. Both pumps were running, but the water is not flowing properly. It appears that the water line is partially blocked as the water has slowed to a trickle. Both pumps were turned off as a precautionary measure to prevent them from burning up. I will attempt to troubleshoot this after hours or this weekend. A service call would cost $45 minimum per call and every hour thereafter.
