At the 7th district safety meeting the police department is alerting residents of a scam artist who has been working various areas around town. He was recently arrested and booked under the name of Bobby Lee Washington Jr. He is described at a black male, 5-5, 150 with gray hair and brown eyes. He has a goatee and mustache. It seems that Mr. Washington (or other names he may use) specializes in telling people he can get them beer or Pepsi products at a big discount. He often uses the story that he is retired from the supplier. He takes the money but doesn't deliver the goods. He also has been posing as a block watch captain who also attempts to collect from residents to pay for alley plowing. Several people at the safety meeting had stories about this person, who evidently is going through trash to get identifying information on the occupants so he can be more convincing and personalize his scam approach. It was reported he was recently active in the area of 77th and Hampton, 68th and Hampton, and the Lindsey Park area in the 7th police district.
Although recently arrested, he could be back on the street after making bail. This is a person to be on the lookout for, and to be very wary of if you come in contact with him.
