On April 16, 2001 the City Council accepted 6 Neighborhood Action Plans for
the following neighborhood associations: Southcliff, Burton Ridge, Van Mall,
Harney Heights, Central Park, and Bella Vista (revised plan). Neighborhood
Action Plans are created in conjunction with the City's Comprehensive plan
and provide an organized way to priorities neighborhood's concerns, needs,
and ideas.
Vancouver's Comprehensive Plan states that the city should ''create
neighborhood plans by assisting neighborhood organizations in identifying
issues, policies and implementation measures specific to their areas.'' As a
result of this directive, the Neighborhood Action Planning Program begun in
1994. To date, 30 neighborhoods have completed their plans, including the
new plans.
