Architectural Review Committee

Why should I need to apply for permission to replace the carpeting in my unit or install crown mouldings in the Living Room? (several such applications have been submitted to the committee in recent months).

Municipal takeover from SCE

In 1999 the city investigated the possible cancellation of Edison's contract to supply electricity to the city of Long Beach. There was a political movement to put the question of this municipal takeover on the March election ballot to give the voters a chance to decide the issue instead of leaving it to the city council. The issue was eventually avoided when the city renegotiated the contract with Edison.

Do you feel it would have been appropriate for the HOA Board to have discussed this issue of whether a question should have been put to a vote of the citizens and urged homeowners to sign the ballot petition if the Board felt it was important that the question be submitted to city's voters?

Role of board in civic issues

When a civic issue potentially has an impact on the management/finances of HPT, a particularly effective board would examine the issue as it relates to HPT, take a postion, and attempt to galvanize residents. My sense of things though is that our board is still trying to figure out its relationship with the management company as relates to the day to day management of HPT. Until it lets the management company manage, it will have little time to devote the policy concerns that should occupy its attention.
