*Meeting was called to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance

 

*Introduction of HNA Board and guest speakers 

 

* Treasurer’s Report given and approved – Wilma Johnson

*Approval of February, 2014 HNA meeting minutes – D. Dorsey

 

* Welcomed newcomers

 

*Jose Chapa – manager of new Walmart  Neighborhood Market on Marbach Rd was introduced and welcomed to our community.  He gave a brief statement on his background with Walmart.  He stated there was money given to his store to give to schools in the area.  The HNA will contact the principal of the Ed Cody Elementary school to let them know to contact Mr. Chapa.

 

*SAFFE Officer Michael Kilmer talked about  conducting a mini-sweep on violations in the Heritage area, i.e. expired inspection stickers,vehicles parked on grass, vehicles parked wrong way on streets, parking on sidewalks, incorrect parking in cul-de-sacs and parking of oversized vehicles
in Heritage.  A number of tickets have been issued.

 

Old Business:

 

* 44 Certificates of Appreciation were given to those individuals or organizations that supported
the 2013 HNA National Night Out event.

 

New Business:

 

* Work has begun on the planning for the 2014 HNA NNO event that will be held October 7th.

* The large parcel of vacant land on Potranco Rd between the Park Place subdivision and HEB Plus is being looked at for development.  The owners’ representative would like to place commercial and multi-family housing (apartments) on this location. However, the HNA made an agreement with the land owner that became part of the covenants on this property that multi-family housing among other types of development would not be allowed on this property.  This will be discussed more at the next HNA meeting.

 

* Ray Garza, District 4 Constituent Representative, informed the membership about the “Girls Inc.”
Science Festival to be held March 29th at Port San Antonio.  It’s a one day event. 

  

*SAWS – guest speakers, Brandon Payne and Steve Bereyso,  gave an in-depth talk about where our water supply comes from i.e. Edwards Aquifer, Trinity Aquifer, Canyon Lake, Canyon Regional Water Authority and regional Carrizo, and how successful SAWS has been in storing water.

 

SAWS is turning their rebate program from indoors to the outdoors. There are programs ranging from 1) SAWS checking your sprinkler system to see if you are watering evenly and getting the best from your system; 2) rebates for changing a sprinkler system o a drip system.

3) rebates for replacing gass with xerioscaping.   If you want a rebate you have to call SAWS before you begin. You can call SAWS or go online to get information on all the rebate programs and how the outdoor rebate program works. 210 – 704 – SAVE (7283).

 

 Indoor programs for free toilets are no longer available.

 

*There were three $10.00 cash drawings.

 

*Meeting was adjourned after which residents could join the HNA; renew their membership; and talk one on one with guest speakers and board members.
