West Hills Community Association

We were wondering why there is "no ball playing" in the big grass area on West Hills Parkway.  Obviously, baseball would not be a smart thing to play there, but why can't our kids kick a soccer ball around, or toss a football or frisbee?  I just think it would be a better use of this space.  As it is now, there are a few small trees/plants placed in the middle of the grass.  Maybe this area would be best suited for a community dog park.  We see a lot of neighbors with dogs.  These options would also encourage a stronger sense of community.  It would be a place where people from the neighborhood would gather.  If home sales (especially in this community) are on the decline, something like this maybe enticing for homebuyers. 

Unfortunately, when I've seen kids play "ball" they run in the street after their balls without looking for traffic.  Also this will trample the grass and who is going to maintain the field?.  I doubt the parents of the kids would replant grass.  As far as a dog park.  Not all but many pet owners dont pick up after there pets.  I've seen some carry bags but if they think no one is watching they'll leave their "presents" on the ground for their neighbors.  Making the lovely grassy area a dog park would change the name to Westhills Poopway.  Maybe some of the neighbors who live on the County part of Westhills should attend community meetings or reach out to their neighbors.
