Attempted Car Theft?

Not important enough

One thing I recall from all the meetings I have attended where the police are represented, is that if we see trouble, we are to call and they will respond. ''It is important that we catch them in the act.'' I can not tell you how many times I have heard that. And it's amazing how frequently culprits are caught in the act an hour and a half later. It is also amazing at how many excuses they come up with for why that don't show. I finally figured it out. We pay for these people to be trained in making excuses. Not in serving the public. It's always the same story, all talk, no do. And when they, our elected and civil servants, do do something, it hurts us like H E double hockey sticks. I am just getting really sick of paying through the nose for improved services that never materialize. Like we are paying for a huge stadium that promised to give us a winning team, or like paying more for bus fares and taxes to improve bus service that was cut from our neighborhood or the removal of 17 homes so we would be out of the flood plain. The city raised our property values based on that wall as if we are out of the plain but we are not. Just so they coul more money out of us. For What? More lies and propaganda? Just like we pay a county supervisor to practice being a govenor. I would love to be able to see things from the perspective of all of our elected officials and the city and county personel that run things, and that we pay. Problem is, I don't think I can get my head that far up my you know what.

Response Time to Crime

We also were told at meetings that if police did not respond in a reasonable amount of time, to call the Supervisor on duty at the time at Police District 3.

If it truly took 90 minutes to respond to a crime in progress this should be reported to the District as well as a call to Chief Hegartys office. Just complaining about it here is not going to correct the problem.

The responsibility to follow up on this is with the owner of the vehicle. They can call the acting Captain at District 3 at 935-7230-9am to 4pm. They can get Chief Hegartys office by calling 933-4444 during normal business hours and ask for the office of the Chief.

This should not be allowed to go by the wayside, but just complsining here is not going to correct the problem.

You are correct

I do remember that. I am not just complaining for us though. I have been talking to other groups that were basically told the same thing about being called when the act is in progress. I just think it is a shame that we are always told that but it seems that it never happens. What I am refereing to is a break in at a friends home on the east side. They called while the crime was in progress as they were told to do. It took two hours for the police to show up. Luckily no one got hurt as the robber heard them upstairs and left. When they called their district supervisor he basically told them so... what are we supposed to do about it. They took it higher. That was a month and half ago and Hagerty's office has never responded to their call. So what do you do when you have used all the resources we were told to use, and still you get no where? They're moving out of Milwaukee al together as they feel like I do. No one cares.
