BULK AND YARD WASTE REQUIREMENTS

CITY OF DETROIT
DEPARTMENT OF PUBUC WORKS
BULK AND YARD WASTE REQUIREMENTS

Separation of our bulk and yard waste is necessary for compliance with state laws governing the proper disposal of yard Waste. Specific types of equipment are used to collect large bulky items, and other types of equipment are used to collect yard waste (i.e., bagged leaves and/or grass clippings, and brush). Hence, although both household bulk items and yard waste are placed at curbside on the same day for collection, the items must be placed in separate pile To facilitate separate collection of these items, bulky items are to be placed together; brush is to be placed in a pile; and bagged yard waste is to be placed in yet another pile. Do not be alarmed if only one pile is collected when the crew arrives: Other crews responsible for the collection of the other waste shall arrive by the end of our scheduled bulk day'.

All items to be collected on our scheduled bulk collection day must be placed at curbside no later than 7:00 am. But no earlier than 24 hours prior to our scheduled collection day and removed from curbside no later than 7:00 p.m. on your scheduled collection day. In this manner, waste is only present at curbside one day a month, thereby, maintaining the neat appearance of our neighborhood.

OUR BULK ITEM COLLECTION
DAY IS ON THE 3RD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH.
