Asphalt repair

Posted in: Winter Park Lodge II
The board of directors has just approved spending close to $7000 dollars to repair the parking lot asphalt. This repair will include filling the voids along the concrete side walk next to the buildings, removing and repairing old asphalt around the new trash dump pad, and repairing several pot holes throughout the complex. It is important that this work get started and completed while the substrate is relatively warm. As the famous saying goes, ''Please excuse the inconvenience, these are your homeowner dues at work for a better WPL II tomorrow.''
Asphalt Repair Project Update

Kate Walker (F-303) asked about the asphalt work the past several days.

When the new concrete work was done this summer there were some voids along the walk way as well as next to the dumpster pad. Those voids needed to be filled before freezing so moisture would not get below the surface and crack the concrete through expansion and contraction. In addition there are some old pot holes and large cracks in the asphalt that need repair.

The project is being done in two phases: Phase I will be completed Oct 5, and it involves placing concrete and sealer in areas adjacent to the new sidewalks and the dumpster pad.

Phase II should start mid Oct and will take 2 - 3 days to complete. It involves grading and repair work around the dumpster pad and patching/repairing cracks and pot holes throughout the surface. There are 12 locations that will be repaired.

This is not an inexpensive project. After getting three bids and a ''drive through'' the least expensive bid was from a Denver company. Cost of the project is just under $6600.
