AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Feb 16, 2000

In December the first annual Holiday Lighting Contest in the Golden Triangle was sponsored by The Fullerton Company with additional contributions by Michael Murphy Architecture. The grand winner was Kris Vogts'
Cherokee Dining on 12th Avenue. Judges comments included, "Fabulous," "What a beautiful display," and "Definitely a pro created this." Runners up included Gateaux Specialty Cakes and Pastries, "Great use of food as decoration;" Humphries Poli Architects, "I' let you design my building;" West Design Services, "Lots in a small space;" resident Matt Rush, "A great combination of colors on a balcony;" and Morph Gallery, "Good use of a small space." Honorable mention went to Palace Construction for the wonderful tree lighting the side of Trovare. Thank you to The Fullerton Company, Michael Murphy Architecture, and all the participants who helped light up the night and create a wonderful ambience in the Golden Triangle during the holiday season. Watch for details next fall on the second annual contest.

Welcome to three new Golden Triangle businesses - Morph Gallery at 305 West 11th Avenue; Metafolics, a salon at 1070 Bannock; and The Spicy Pickle Sub Shop at 988 Lincoln.

Census 2000 is about to begin. An accurate and complete census is essential to Denver because billions of federal, state, and local dollars will be spent on thousands of projects across the nation base on information from the census. Additionally, the census determines political representation among states. During April your household will receive a questionnaire, either by mail or from a census taker; please give it your careful attention. The Denver Local Census Office is currently recruiting census taker and crew leaders. See the flyer enclosed in this newsletter for information on how to participate.

The Golden Triangle Optimist Club is currently recruiting charter members. If you would like to give something back to the community by participating in this service organization, call Bill Hammel at 303-861-2092 or Rod Whitte at 303-202-5309.

To include news of your organization's events, accomplishments, or mile-stones, fax the details to 303-572-1050 or call 303-572-0506.
