City of Dallas Offers Rebate on Rain/Freeze Sensors

City of Dallas water ordinance requires that all automatic sprinkler systems be equipped with a rain and freeze sensor by January 1, 2005.

Between July 1 and December 31, 2004, the City of Dallas is offering two rebate options for rain and freeze sensors. Due to overwhelming citizen participation, the Free Rain and Freeze Sensor Workshop Option previously offered is no longer available. All installation workshops are full. Dallas Water Utilities is now offering (1) the Professional Installation Rebate Option and (2) the Self-installation Rebate Option.

Who is Eligible?

The program is offered for automatic, in-ground sprinkler systems installed prior to January 1, 2002. Eligibility is based on the following criteria:

Applicant must be a current Dallas Water Utilities customer.
Applicant must confirm that the irrigation system located at the account address was installed prior to January 2002.
The sensor must have been installed between July 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004.
