Fall is just around the corner! That means there will be a lot more volunteers signing up for events and going out to keep our waterways clean. Be sure to sign up for events early! If you need supplies from us, please schedule volunteer activities for the fall as soon as possible. Volunteer and make it a September to remember!

This month, we'd like to highlight our longest-standing Adopt-A-Stream group, Autobell! Autobell has adopted a section of Little Sugar Creek since 2000. That’s 26 years of being dedicated to clean streams! Over that time, they have diverted over 6,500 lbs of trash from our streams?Ÿ?‰  Thank you so much for caring for our creeks, Autobell! Did you know World Water Monitoring Day is September 18th? You can help us monitor the health of a stream near you! There are approximately 3,000 miles of streams in Mecklenburg County. We have an extensive surface water quality monitoring program, but we need your help monitoring this vast network of streams! Our water quality testing  programs allow you to sample streams in your neighborhood for pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, and temperature, while conducting a visual assessment for pollution indicators. World Cleanup Day is September 20th!
 

The Catawba Riversweep is an annual event where residents from all over the Catawba-Wateree River Basin come together to clean up their shared waterway. On October 3rd, thousands of neighbors will come together at dozens of sites from Lake James to Lake Wateree and everywhere in between. It will be a day of hard work, fun, fellowship, and action! Storm Water Services, Keep Charlotte Beautiful, and Park and Recreation will be hosting the Campbell Creek site this year, so we hope to see you there!
