This past Saturday morning, Feb. 7th, an engaged crowd of more than 300 Memphians heard from state, county and city officials in the town hall meeting organized by City Councilman Jim Strickland.
Held at Crichton College, the morning brought about discussions on the upcoming legislative session concerning tougher gun laws, initiatives to combat crime and useful prevention tips.
The officials who attended the town hall meeting included Chairman of Operation: Safe Community and District Attorney General Bill Gibbons, Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell, Criminal Court Judge John T. Fowlkes Jr., Memphis City Council Chairman Myron Lowery, Councilmen Reid Hedgepeth, Kemp Conrad, and Shea Flinn, County Commissioners Mike Carpenter and Steve Mulroy, Memphis Police Col. Jeff Clark, Operation: Safe Community Program Director Linda K. Miller, Judicial Commissioner Rhonda Harris and Memphis School Board Commissioner Jeff Warren. State legislators included Rep. Brian Kelsey, Rep. Mike Kernell, Rep. Jeanne Richardson, Sen. Beverly Marrero, Rep. John DeBerry Jr. and Rep. G.A. Hardaway.
