Neighborhood trees

Posted in: Castleberry Hill
While I know that the city has laws against cutting down trees, it seems obvious that there is little or no enforcement of these laws/regulations. Given the number of trees on the neighborhood's undeveloped lots, I wonder if our proposed zoning changes could possibly take the trees into account. If not, could we, as a neighborhood, inventory the existing tree and try to be proactive in protecting them. I think that it is important to make a distinction between desirable and undesirable tree species and also between smaller and replacable trees versus large, older trees. I believe that if we don't address this tree issue that in the next couple of years, we will have very few of these trees left and that would be a great loss for our community.
