The association meeting was called to order by President Tasha at 6:30 p.m.  There were 88 neighbors in attendance.

President Tasha introduced Mayor Gregory Ballard.  Mayor Ballard addressed the neighbors on who and how to contact persons in his administration for answers or solutions to varying issues within the neighborhood.  He said some of the concerns he hopes to address are environmental and public health issues.  He said he plans to institute a way to use criminals to help fix abandon homes.  He also said that with the new owners of Lafayatte Square mall that he hopes to see businesses return to West 38th Street.   

Major Ciesielski was present and said that more security has been placed around the Lafayette Square area to make it a safer place for shoppers.   Sgt. Grimes has been assigned as the community police officer for Gateway.

Mayor Ballard introduced Deputy Mayor for Public Neighborhood Affairs, Olgen Williams.  Deputy Mayor Williams said neighborhoods are very important and that he believes they will become better as soon as we are back to community policing.

Mr. Phil Schaefer - Vice Prsident of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, shared with the association what was approved on the grant that the association submitted.  He said that funds to re-do the entrance to Gateway were approved.  He said the grant will allow money for a landscape architect to look at the entrance and to decide what best would make it attractive.  It will also pay for the plants and shrubs.  He said he will get with the officers of the association and set a date for planting.

President Tasha announced the upcoming events for Gateway.  She said there will b an Easter egg hunt on March 22 ad a Summer Youth program June 2-August 15, 2008.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
