Gardenland/Northgate Neighborhood

A proposal has come to the GNNA for a possible gas station/mini mart at the corner of Northgate Blvd. and (the old) Garden Highway, across from Longers. At the meeting on 3/14/02, the GNNA suggested a ''sit down restaurant'' such as Denny's instead. We asked if the land owner if they would accept a project with no alcohol sales and the response was, ''we would consider it.'' That response was not what we wanted to hear. How do you feel?

regarding gas station proposal

I missed this last meeting but I absolutely agree that another gas station is not only not needed it would make no sense. Between Hwy 80 and w el camino (3 mile stretch) there are already 9 gas stations! Most of whom I know are stuggling. Whats the point in adding another gas station with underground tanks, risking worsening the ground and ground water contamination that already exists from most of the existing gas stations. We already have over 3 gas stations for every one mile stretch of road! What would be nice is more sit down resturants, ethnic stores, professional offices, small retail malls,etc.
