Garden City and surrounding neighborhoods

Are our currently elected officials really worth keeping? Are they really doing the people's bidding? Do they listen? When and where are they doing this? Is a ''Town Hall'' where they avoid issues a real attempt to connect? Are they only playing to their established support base and brushing aside criticism of their failures--individually and collectively?
How would they know what we want them to do as our representatives? Do they make themselves available to area organizations on a regular basis?
As a presidential candidate (who won) often asked: Are we better off today than we were 4 years ago?''
I know I'm not nad my family and neighbors are not, either.
Are YOU registered to vote? Do you know where the candidates stand on issues that affect you? Will you show up and make an effort to change things for the better by exercising your choice?
And will the voting fiasco of last spring be repeated? Have you thought about voting with an absentee ballot in advance (assuming you can decide ahead of time who to vote for)?

A whopping less than 25% of registered voters made their choice based on the mistaken idea that the local mayor has control over property tax rates, and chose a previously unelected and inexperienced candidate who offered a different focus.
Mayor Elect Ballard takes office on January 1st with most citizens still clueless about what he will do that will affect them all.
