I recently met with officials from Two Rivers regarding their most recent letter and their offer to bring Verizon internet services to the residents of the Forks. As a resident, you need to listen carefully to the Two Rivers position and weigh that against what the Forks of the Patuxent management board is telling you. Bottom line, Two Rivers is building 2,060 homes regardless of the community views.
Two Rivers is willing to pay the $700,000 to bring in Verizon if the Community Association will clean up the covenants and clearly articulate that it can be less than an age restricted community. Interestingly, if you read the covenants, posted on this site, it allows for a significant portion of the community to be non-age restricted.
So what does that mean, Two Rivers is moving forward with a non-age restricted community either way. However, they will pony up the money to bring in Verizon internet if we as a community clean up the covenants so that they don't have to fight any legal battles. Also interesting, the County has already approved them for a non-age restricted community.
So why then is the Community Association fighting them? You should ask your Community Association members that question.
