June 7, 2008

During the first week of the month in June 5-6, over 130 needy Pawtucket families used the services of the Food Pantry at St. Matthew Trinity, 690 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket.  These numbers are abnormally high in the first week of the month as the pantry usually receives about 100 clients per week.  What is going on in the local economy to see such an early month rise in our services?

Peace,

Jim

Similar to other food pantries sadly, Just part of the recession in RI which seems to prtend an even bigger problem in the winter months with people trying to heat their homes with alternatives and fires from tipped over heaters and carbon monoxide poisonings may sadly be on the horizon for many people in RI. If anyone has ideas on ramping up the protections and resources, this is the time to start. Arthur Plitt

PS. As people get laid off in the city and companies, we will see more trying to deal with the man made problems, and of course the middle east oil cartels.
