Upcoming Neighborhood Meeting on Crime Feb 2nd

"The Next Step" Meeting for the whole neighborhood.

Saturday, 2/2 from 11 am - 1 pm at Oaks Community Center, 3092 Brookside Parkway, North Drive

Purpose:

To discuss how we want to move forward on improving the neighborhood, including the possibilities of forming task forces to work on neighborhood clean-ups, abandoned housing, and of course crime.

Several neighbors met again with Commander Waters, and will report on that meeting as well as give an update on IMPD activity and arrests.

But one thing that came out of that second meeting with IMPD -- if we want to show slow response times or no response at all -- we need to keep a record.  So if there is a criminal activity in progress that you call in -- note the date and time you called, the address you were calling about, the phone # you called from, and the results -- how long did it take for officer to arrive, if at all, and how was it handled.  We can compile a list and then present to sheriff's office who handles dispatch.  If the crime happened while you were gone, then time is not critical, but all the rest is because if relevant we  want to be able to report how it was handled to IMPD and also alert the group to be on the lookout for certain people or patterns of behavior.  So please call or email with details of any crimes you know about or have been a victim of.

Please RSVP if you plan on coming to 2/2 meeting (Laurie - 637-6242).
