Minimum Property Maintenance Code- Are we Compliant?

Anyone interested in reviewing the new Minimum Property Maintenance Codes, which went into effect January 29, 2004, can view it on the City?’s Web site. Some of the biggest changes involve the parking of motor homes, R.V.?’s, boats, tent trailers and extra cars. Recreational vehicles, boats and trailers shall be parked, kept or stored on an improved all weather surface and shall not be parked, kept or stored in required front yard setbacks, except for a driveway. (VMC 17.14.290) Cars which are not licensed or non operable also have new guidelines: No person shall retain or store outdoors an inoperable vehicle for more than seven (7) consecutive or non-consecutive days. (VMC 17.14.280) Truck tractors, as defined in RCW 46.04.655, and semi-trailers, as defined in RCW 46.04.530, shall not be parked, kept or stored in residentially zoned areas. (17.14.290) R.V.?’s may be parked on the street for a maximum of 14 days per calendar year with a permit from Code Enforcement.
