Farhill Downs

Welcome Spring!

Apr 04, 2009

Hello and Happy Spring! We had a nice meeting Tuesday with 7 neighbors present and Gary Loveless with the Mayor's office stopped by. News from the meeting:

1. Our latest bank statement and receipt for snow removal were presented to the group.

2. An estimate for work on the entrances was presented and the group felt we needed to try to get more estimates as the one presented was not within our means. If you know someone who would be interested in giving us an estimate on fixing the mortar joints and replacing the wood signs please contact them.

3. Gary handed out info from Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. April 25 is a city wide event with volunteers picking up trash, etc. If anyone is interested in organizing this for Farhill Downs you can get info at www.kibi.org/programs.

4. There was no interest from anyone on the free trees from NeighborWoods so we decided to not pursue that.

5. I received a phone call from a neighbor on Candy Spots Drive and someone broke into their home during the day by kicking in the front door. This neighbor scared the intruders off when she pulled into her garage. The detectives said that this type of crime is on the rise and that we should all be watching out for one another and keeping our garage doors down.

6. We have a new neighbors! Larry Carmer and family purchased a home on Candy Spots and to Sean and Ashley Duffey who recently purchased a home on Dancer. Welcome to Farhill Downs!

7. Those in attendance discussed some possible changes to our group one with being only meeting only 4 times per year (January, April, August and November? ) We would also like to have volunteers to take on leadership roles to distribute the work load and help us to be more organized. We will be meeting in April to prepare the annual membership drive letters for mailing and possibly voting in August for a "board" Please remember that this is a voluntary membership and that there are no rules or restrictions placed on your home or property by the Farhill Downs Voluntary Neighborhood Association. It is just a way to come together and take care of our community.
