Announcing the Petfinder.com Foundation pet sponsorship pilot program:
Your contribution could save a pet
?“I wish I could help them all.?”
Do you feel that way as you browse the pet lists on Petfinder.com? You aren?’t alone. It?’s the most common sentiment expressed by the thousands of visitors who email us. The good news is that most of them go on to find the pet of their dreams--that perfect companion--and to provide him or her a ?“forever home.?”
But what about the pets left behind--those equally deserving companions who for some reason just weren?’t a good lifestyle match?
We?’ve got good news for them, right around the corner, and you can help.
We?’re excited to introduce a new feature we?’re piloting that allows you to sponsor a homeless pet that has touched your heart, but who, for some reason, you can?’t adopt at this time.
There are seven shelters participating in this pilot program
?• Wisconsin Humane Society
?• SPCA of Texas
?• Oregon Humane Society
?• Cleveland Animal Protective League
?• Humane Society of Boulder Valley
?• Animal Rescue Force
?• Animal Rescue Foundation

It costs an average of $180 to provide care for a pet while it waits to find a home. Historically, because it costs less to euphonize pets than it does to care for them, under-funded shelters have been forced to make terrible decisions affecting good pets. This is changing as communities begin to realize the value of pets and the importance of supporting their local shelters.

Be a part of this life-saving support to help your local shelters. You can start by sponsoring a pet that melts your heart on Petfinder.com! Your contribution of just $5 may enable a pet to get cared for until the perfect family comes along. This is a chance they all deserve!
Contributions are collected and distributed to shelters by the Petfinder.com Foundation and are tax deductible as the law allows.

This project is currently a pilot and is only available on certain pet lists. We are hopeful that we?’ll soon be able to offer this feature to each of our adoption organizations.

If you have more time than money, please register in our volunteer database and post your availability to help shelters with fostering, calling, cleaning, or pet socializing. For more ideas on how to help, read Your Local Shelter Wants You! in our library.
