I am waiting to hear more information on this from a friend's co-worker who lives in Emerald Mountain... will post when I get it.

But, from what I hear, his son was almost run over by a van while skateboarding. The boy ran away and the van chansed him. the boy got to his house, and grabbed his dad's shotgun and came outside and the van sped off.

This co-worker of my friend said the police called him back one day to say that there have been several kidnapping attempts reported in Emerald Mountain.

Has anyone else heard any info on this?

For the person who posted the original message regarding the kidnapping, please do not take this the wrong way because you are just reporting what you have been told.

I am sorry, but this just does not make sense to me. I think the reason the co-worker has not said any more about this situation is because it is a very fabricated story. The truth is probably that the boy was riding his skateboard in the middle of the road, which is not a playground, and did not get out of the driver's way that by the way had the right of way. I am not excusing this, but the driver probably got mad with a little road rage. Maybe the driver was going to follow the boy home to tell his parents that he should not be playing in the middle of the road, who knows...

Either way why on earth would this person be proud of the fact that his own son, probably a young teenager, was able to get his shotgun bringing it outside to have a "showdown" with the driver of the van in a heavily populated neighborhood! That is insane! The boy probably got caught playing with his father's gun and made up this crazy off the wall story. The father is probably not saying anything more about the story because the truth finally came out as to what really happened.

If this story is true, what if that boy came out with a loaded shotgun that should have NEVER been accessible to him in the first place and the gun went off killing himself, someone's child, or the person who is supposedly attempting to kidnap him.

I am proud to live in a wonderful neighborhood and if there are criminal issues going on I want to know, but I want to know the truth. I am glad the person who posted this did so because it may make people more aware that children are not safe no matter where they live. Just the moment you let your guard down something horrible could happen. It just seems that Emerald Mountain is getting picked on a little bit more for some reason. Crime happens every where. The moment it happens in a very good neighborhood things get blown way out of the norm, where as if the same crime happened in another neighborhood in Wetumpka no body cares.

Please let me know, am I the only one who feels like this?
