  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor

Hello.   I am posting a discussion on this board, regarding a program that I am promoting for the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County.  The CommuniTree Steward Program has been in existence for several years, and through the great volunteer efforts over those years, thousands of trees have been planted, pruned, and cared for in and around the Syracuse, New York Area.

The program is looking for volunteers.  These volunteers would receive classroom and field training on proper tree placement, planting, pruning, and long-term care.  This program aims to foster cooperative efforts within neighborhoods and municpalities for the beautification of neighborhood environments.  People get an opportunity to meet their neighbors, interact with new people in their community, and to learn new skills with a positive goal of making long-term improvements of the environment where they live.

If you or someone you know might be interested in this program, please send me an E-mail [jjr224@cornell.edu] or call me at 315-424-9485.  Thank you.
