Walter Mc Grath, General Manager, Braintree Electric Light Department (BELD), gave
a report on the Department's article at the upcoming October Special Town Meeting to
rezone a small parcel of land on BELD property to expand the present administration building. He also spoke on the operations and services of the Electric Light Department.
Reports:
Beach Party Committee: This year's party was an outstanding success and the committee will be starting planning for next year's party.
Stop Sign Committee: The Town of Braintree has removed the stop signs at the intersection of Vinedale and Audubon because they did not meet state requirements. The Committee wants the Town to conduct a traffic study for the entire area rather than for a few streets.
Shipyard: Donna O'Sullivan reported on activity at the Shipyard. She reported that potential buyers have presented their plans for the use of the shipyard.
Greenbush: Jim Casey gave an update on the status of the Greenbush project. He said that there is a lack of communication on the part of the T with residents, noting that the drawings for the Liberty/Union/Commercial Street intersection are not available for citizen review. Also, citizen input is needed for the Weymouth Landing design.
Membership: The committee reported that membership is now over 300 members and of this total nearly 150 are new members.
Library: The Watson Park Library Study Committee will present a report to the Special Town Meeting in October recommending that the Park Commissioners lease the building to the Braintree Historical Society.
The yard sale is scheduled for Sunday, 06 October 2002, with a rain date of 20 October 02. The location of the yard sale is the Ross School.
The meeting adjourned at 9:53 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
John Pelose
