The East Braintree Civic Association awards two $500 scholarships yearly in the name of Cynthia Morrissey.
The scholarships are awarded once a year to those members or relatives of paid East Braintree Civic Association members who will be attending college in the fall. The students need not be a high school senior - he/she may be currently attending an accredited college with plans to continue in the fall. We are looking for candidates who will be studying the environment or medical fields; however, any other discipline or interest is acceptable as well.
We have been able to award these scholarships in the past in part due to the generosity of CITGO Petroleum Co. which has a fuel terminal in East Braintree.
The deadline for the application to be received by the EBCA is May 12, 2003. To receive an application or if you have any questions, please contact Dave Oliva at Doliva@Beld.net or 781-849-1597.
This year's scholarships were awarded on June 12, 2002 to two very deserving applicants.
The task of choosing this year's recipients was very difficult for the Scholarship Committee due to the increase of applicants, not to mention the qualifications of the applicants.
The recipients of 2002's $500 scholarships, awarded in the name of Cynthia Morrissey, are Elizabeth O'Day and Stephanie Martin.
Congratulations on behalf of the East Braintree Civic Association.
