Association Officers Duties

Your neighborhood association is run by three officers and various chairpersons. The three officer positions as set forth in the bylaws have the following duties:

President: Duties include organization of the monthly general meetings, board meetings, and special meetings, arranging meeting speakers, fund raising, etc. The president is to promote and represent the East Minnehaha Neighborhood Association within the community and Clark County.

Vice-President: Duties include meeting with local businesses to discover methods of helping each other in the neighborhood. To assist the President in all things, or take over the duties of the President in his or her absence.

Secretary/Treasurer: Duties include taking minutes at each meeting, keeping attendance records, writing up monthly reports for the following month?’s meeting; publishing and editing the monthly newsletters, flyers, and handouts; and keeping track of any and all expenses and revenue incurred by the association.

The office of Secretary/Treasurer may be separated into two positions but only after a change in the bylaws. With better attendance and participation in the future we may want to think of this as an option.

Members may volunteer for various positions as chairpersons. Here are a few ideas that we could use help in: fundraising (ways to raise revenue), membership (setup and take down meetings, attendance drives, meeting greeter, refreshments), neighborhood development (coordinator of development information, development meeting attendance), parks and recreation (things to do in and around our neighborhood), crime watch (assist setting up crime watches in our neighborhood), etc. If you can help please let one of the officers know. As a chairperson you would be a member of the board.
