Goal 1: Increase safety and prevent crime by assisting residents in the procurement of safety equipment for a secure and proactive community.
Objective 1: Improve the sense of security of residential property.
Strategy 1: Create a fund from which East Calhoun homeowners can be reimbursed for the cost of the purchase and/or installation of equipment to promote home security and safety.
Strategy Description:
Equipment includes front-yard lighting, motion-detector lighting and home security systems.
Allow East Calhoun homeowners to receive a one-time reimbursement of up to $100.00 per property based on criteria established.

Objective 2: Increase the number of active block clubs in East Calhoun.
Strategy 1: Create and facilitate on-going activities for block clubs within East Calhoun.
Strategy Description:
Work with CCP/Safe to recruit and train block club leaders for inactive blocks.
Organize new block clubs and encourage on-going participation.
Hold neighborhood-wide block club events (Labor Day Picnic, etc. to promote block club activities)
Provide a support network for block club leaders by holding periodic meetings to discuss leaders’ concerns and encourage more block events.
Recognize block club leaders at Labor Day Picnic.
Work with CCP/Safe to provide programs to the block clubs including operation identification and auto theft prevention programs.
Install neighborhood crime watch signs.

Objective 3: Inform East Calhoun residents about neighborhood activities.
Strategy 1: Develop and distribute an East Calhoun neighborhood information packet to all residents
promoting block clubs and other neighborhood activities.
Strategy Description: The neighborhood information packet will include:
Promotion of block clubs and other crime prevention measures such as NSP’s Nightwatch alley lighting program and graffiti removal programs.
Neighborhood history, promotion of neighborhood events, parks info and recycling info.
