It appears that the work begun today on the drainage ditch spillway at Borgfeld may have disturbed the wildlife.
A 3 1/2 foot Southern or Broad-Banded water snake trekked through our yard this evening! We live at 1020 Wellbrook, and he was headed East.
The size is correct: neighbors saw him, too. Southerns grow to 4 ft. long.
Non-venomous, beautiful creature ... but I wouldn't want to meet him under a bush in my yard.
