Notes from the Neighborhood?…2006

As the new President of the Devonshire II and IV Neighborhood, I wanted to share with you current information from our last meeting and give to each resident contact phone numbers for the officers and block captains. Call these people and make suggestions on how we can make our neighborhood a better place to live. Please complete the survey and return to one of the board members or block captains when they knock (coming soon) on your door. Association dues of $10 for 2006 are due now and if you will please include this with your survey or mail them to our treasurer:

In 2006, we have many important opportunities to address and challenges to meet. I recently attend the BRAG (Binford Redevelopment and Growth) meeting and I believe our neighborhood needs to participate in the process of improving and beautifying our part of Binford from 62nd to Kessler Blvd as well as several other projects. On the 23rd of March, I am meeting with the Presidents of 24 neighborhood associations in our immediate area to discuss ideas with Mayor Bart Peterson and our local politicians. This is a chance for you to share your thoughts and concerns with the Mayor through us.

There are several upcoming events and volunteers are needed:
We are going to repaint the entrance signs to the neighborhood. The materials will be furnished. We need volunteers to repair, if needed, and paint. These are the gateway to our residences and the first things visitors see. Please call me for details and to volunteer.

We would like to see some flowers or plants planted around the entrance signs. If someone would volunteer to coordinate that effort after the signs are finished and arrange for the flowers maintenance (watering etc) that would be great.

Saturday, April 8th, from 9am to noon, we would like to promote a trash pick-up campaign along both sides of Binford Avenue from 62nd south to Kessler. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, may be willing to provide trash bags and receptacles for our use. We need a volunteer to be in charge of the total project, volunteers and signage.

To volunteer to lead or to be involved in a project, please contact someone on the board or your block captain or me. I?’ll assist with each project as I can, but we need you too.
I am working on a website for our neighborhood. If you would like to assist in this effort, please let me know. Email your comments to asooner25@gmail.com or call me, Alex West at (317) 475-0776. My street address is 5720 Andover Road, Indy 46220.
