Developer Wants to Discuss Plans with Oaks Neighborhood

Posted in: Oaks On Providence

Offering either evening of July 27 or 28, or Saturday morning, July 30, developer Mr. Goodman wants to meet with Oaks neighbors to discuss his plans to develop the wooded tract of land between Red Oaks Trail and Alma Village Blvd. Mr. Goodman wants to change the zoning to commercial and build a Circle K with three pumps on the site.

Mr. Goodman would like to present his plans and listen to what the Oaks and Alma Village homeowners think about his plans.

What businesses would you like to see developed on this property? Take a look at the Zoning list.

While I am about as pro business and private enterprise as you can get, and while private property rights are of utmost importance, there is also a responsibility to develop wisely, and in this case it doesn't sound like the developer has a responsible plan. A Circle K is not indicative of the neighborhood, will not provide the area much in the way of employment, and provides little convenience to the residents of this neighborhood since the BP just went up at Lowes last month.

In fact, it will be very inconvenient for us, since we will now have to contend with traffic congestion to get in and out of our neighborhood.

Our neighborhood currently has an attractive entrance which is incentive for future residents to explore homes here. A Circle K at the entrance will encourage many to simply skip us and look elsewhere.

Concerning Alma Village and the Oaks we certainly do not need anything that will add to the traffic issues we now have.   For a small town like Waxhaw we certainly do not need another gas station.  Why put it in the middle of a residential location ?  Just does not make sense.
