Many of you know that Davis Islands was dredged up from the bay bottom in the 1920s. It was designed to become one of Tampa's most liveable neghborhoods. D.P.Davis,its' founder, disappeared on an ocean crossing and did not live to see the
progress of his dream in the making.
As the community grew, it became evident that there were issues which needed to be addressed
to protect it from problems such as blight and buildings which did not fit in with the idea of
an attractive neighborhood in the making and
commercial building in residential areas. DICA was formed for that purpose.
