It's the Little Things that Make a Big Difference

Nov 13, 1999

The Grand Canyon reveals how continuous motion in the same direction over time can drastically change the environment. Because little things matter, it?’s essential that changes are for the better. The quality of our local schools and our low crime rates exist because East Long Beach has enough residents who are willing to give of their time to make a difference.

Quality of life depends upon lots of little things. Councilmember Kell?’s staff once noted that there are 10 times as many who were too busy to show up as the number of people at any meeting. You count! Traffic mitigation is better than expected north of Spring, some of those ugly lights have shields at the auto dealerships, K-Mart is not open 24 hours and its building is about twice as far from homes as planned ?– all because enough people attended all-too-many meetings. Yes, we have a bad deal, but thank those, who had better things to do, for taking the time. It is scary to imagine how much worse it could have been.

Thanks, your efforts make a difference.
