Crestwood Neighborhood

A Message From Our President: Carolyn Dershem

May 02, 2005

We have three grant applications in the works. The first is to the City of OKC for Crestwood identification signs and posts. The second is to the State Historic Preservation Office for a grant to help complete our application to the National Register of Historic Places. The third grant is to the City of OKC for trees. As part of their urban forestry project, two neighborhoods will be chosen to put trees on private property. These trees will be about two inches in diameter and valued at $200 to $250 each. The trees will be very important to replace all of the elm trees in Crestwood that have reached the end of their lives. We would also like to apply for grants to help us put mini-gardens with benches, trash cans, and possibly a gazebo, on the median. We are in the process of researching for other grants to help us complete the National Register application. If you can help us with our research or with writing the applications, please call Carolyn at 946-7545.
This year the Neighborhood Alliance has chosen Crestwood as one of two neighborhoods it is going to help complete a Strategic Plan. We all have ideas about where we want Crestwood to be in five, ten, or even, 20 years from now, and a Strategic Plan is the first step to getting there. Ms. Georgie Rasko from the Neighborhood Alliance is going to give us details at our meeting on September 13.
And, of course, August is our yearly Ice Cream Social on the Median. Don't miss the homemade ice cream or a chance to meet your neighbors. We'll send out a flyer to tell you when. Plan on being there - it gets better every year.
Please email or call any of the officers and tell us what you think
