2007 Pool Rules and Information

Season: The pool will open Thursday, May 24, 2007 with limited hours from 2:00-8:00 pm. Normal hours will begin on Friday, May 25th, 2007. The big pool will close Monday, September 3, 2007. Determination if the “kiddie” pool will be available will be made prior to the pool closing date.

Hours: All pools: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday
10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday
Adult Swim: 10-minute break each hour, on the hour.

Lap Swim: Adult Lap Swim: Weekdays 12:00 to 12:30 pm

Swim Lessons: Weekdays: ½ hour sessions:
8:30 to 9:00 am; 9:00 to 9:30 am; 9:30 to 10:00 am
Look for signs at the pool for more information. Sign up with the lifeguard, as sessions are posted to secure your spot.

Individual and private lessons are available; check with the lifeguards for times and availability.

COVENTRY POOL RULES 2007

?˜ The safety and enjoyment of the residents of the community are the primary concern in the operation of our pool. Please show courtesy and consideration for others during use of the pool and cooperate with the lifeguards in their daily management of the pool.

?˜ The Lifeguards have complete authority over all residents and their guests while in the Pool area and are empowered to impose on the spot penalties that may be necessary. Failure to obey lifeguards will result in termination of pool privileges.

?˜ All residents and their guests shall use the pool at their own risk. Coventry Homeowners Association, employees and/or its agents assume no responsibility from any accident or injury or damage to any person or their property resulting from such use.

?˜ Coventry residents and their guests are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous manner at all times. Absolutely no abusive language, boisterous conduct, loud or offensive music or breach of peace will be tolerated.

?˜ A signed pool test form must be on file with the lifeguard before entering the pool area. (If applicable obtain forms from the lifeguard)

?˜ All swimmers must shower before entering the pool.

?˜ Persons with communicable, contagious diseases, open cuts or sores are NOT permitted to use the pool.

?˜ Residents wishing to host a pool party in excess of 10 guests (children) need to notify the pool chairman 7 days in advance of event. If your party exceeds 20 guests, you will be responsible for the cost of the additional lifeguard, $25.00.

?˜ Children over the age of 10 that have passed a swim test for the lifeguard may use the pool without adult supervision. Every child will need to pass a swim test each summer and have the signed form on file with the lifeguards. A parent or responsible adult should remain in the Coventry community while their child/children are at the pool.

?˜ Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older while in the pool area.

?˜ An adult must accompany any child wearing water wings or inner tube devices in the water.

?˜ Food and beverages in appropriate containers are allowed. Please no glass containers. Also remember to clean up after yourself.

?˜ Pets are not allowed in the pool area.

?˜ No smoking in the pool area.

?˜ No tennis or hard balls allowed.

?˜ Diving is permitted only in the deep end-not in water less than five feet deep.

?˜ Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper while in the pool.

?˜ Lifeguard may close the pool during inclement weather. The pool will re-open when the lifeguard deems it safe to swim again.

?˜ All swimmers, including guests will wear appropriate swim attire. No cut-offs or denim shorts allowed.

?˜ Lifeguards will have a 10-minute break each hour, on the hour.

?˜ Lifeguards have been instructed not to answer the phone while they are on duty. If the phone rings, please answer it and help your fellow neighbor.

?˜ Any property broken or damaged by a resident or their guest shall be paid for promptly by the resident once the damage is assessed.



KIDDIE POOL:
?˜ The Kiddie pool is for children 6 years of age and under. Children 7 years of age and older are not permitted in the kiddie pool at any time.
?˜ Adults permitting their children 6 and under to use the kiddie pool shall have full responsibility for the safety of their children. Lifeguards will NOT supervise this area.

LIFE GUARD EXPECTATIONS:
A. The Primary duty is to assure the safety of the swimmers in and around the pool.
B. Make sure each swimmer’s parents or guardian fills out an emergency information form and a swim test form, if necessary. This will be kept on file at the pool at all times.
C. Lifeguards are NOT allowed to answer the Coventry pool phone while on duty.
D. Lifeguards are NOT allowed to eat any food while on duty. (Carrying a water bottle is acceptable)
E. Lifeguards have absolute authority over the pool area and must be obeyed at all times. If the resident and or guest fail to comply with the pool rules or lifeguards, the following actions will be applied:
1. FIRST OFFENSE: Resident and or guest will receive a written or verbal warning. Lifeguard may use his or her on discretion and remove person(s) from the pool for a cool down period of 5 minutes. Warning will be kept on file.
2. SECOND OFFENSE: Resident and or guest will not be allowed in the pool area for 24 hours. A written report will be kept on file with the lifeguards. The pool chairman will inform the resident’s parents or guardian on the action taken.
3. THIRD OFFENSE: Resident and or guest will not be allowed in the pool area for 7 days. A written report will be kept on file with the lifeguards. The pool chairman will inform the resident or the resident’s parents or guardian and discuss ways to improve behavior.
4. FOURTH OFFENSE: Resident and or guest will be banned from the pool for the rest of the season. NO EXCEPTIONS. The pool’s chairman will inform the resident or the resident’s parents.
F. Lifeguards are to sit in one of two assigned areas. The south-side deep end or by the ladder near the deep end on the northeast corner.
G. Tables and umbrella’s are for Coventry residents and their guests.

SWIM LESSONS

A. All lifeguards that are giving swim lessons shall have the following information (name, address, home phone and cell phone).
B. All lifeguards shall be on time to each lesson.
C. In the event of bad weather, it is the lifeguard’s responsibility to CALL each parent and inform them that the lesson has been cancelled.
D. If a lifeguard has a lesson scheduled and is not able to teach their class, it is his/her responsibility to inform each parent that the class is cancelled. It is acceptable for the lifeguard to find a replacement for that particular lesson.
