We're making progress!

Sorry for the lateness of this newsletter and for missing last week. Life's been pretty busy for me. First of all, the gate is working and it looks like we have most of the kinks worked out! It seems that the clickers are working and the repairman should be out this week to fix the antenna. Just keep in mind not to let people tailgate in behind you! The gate works best when we enforce it. If you see anyone forcing their way through the gate, please call the police and then property management.

More good news, I am sure you are all aware by now that we will be having a courtesy officer from JSO moving into the community. He should be signing his papers very soon and we are looking forward to him moving in. Please keep in mind that he is not our own personal security guard. He is a resident just like the rest of us. Hopefully his presence will deter unlawful activity and he should be available in real emergencies. He will not be enforcing parking. Debbie Smith is working out with him what his role will be.

JSO has also been hard at work trying to apprehend the criminals responsible for the break ins. Apparently they have been hitting other neighborhoods as well. The break ins in our community were the first item covered by the officers during their report at last months ShAdCo meeting. I was very disappointed not to see any other representation from our community at the meeting. We must get involved. The Sheriff's office listens to the complaints raised at those meetings. The officers also mentioned that JSO has had extra units stationed in this area to respond to calls related to these burglaries. I believe that the JSO car parked across from building 8 last week was part of this effort.

Please remember to come to the Neighborhood Watch Meeting this coming Sunday at 6pm. We will have a pot luck social gathering as well, so please bring a dish to share and plan on getting to know your neighbors. Please also bring a neighbor to the meeting, let them know about the e-mail list and this website! Thanks!
