How To Report an Issue to Licenses & Inspections

Process for Quality of Life Issues

Problem: Overgrown Weeds, Trash Issues (e.g., no trash can lids, no trash cans, trash stored improperly, trash out on the wrong days or times, etc.), Work being performed without a permit displayed, Sidewalks not shoveled, various building code violations, etc.

Response #1: Call the Department of Licenses and Inspections at 576-3030 and report your problem, be sure to request and write down your tracking number. To be included in the Associations’ Tracking List, please submit your complaint information to Sophia Hanson of the Cool Spring/Tilton Quality of Life committee at sophiahanson@hotmail.com or by telephone at (302) 750-7612.

State the problem, make reference to your tracking number and state that the owner has not resolved the problem or that it has re-occurred and that L & I should consider issuing a summons. Also, copy the City Council Member for the 5th District, Sammy Prado (same address, 9th Floor and the Law Department, John Sheridan, 9th Floor) and Sophia Hanson of the Cool Spring/Tilton Quality of Life committee. Complaints sent to City Council can be e-mailed to: Lhoward@ci.wilmington.de.us and the e-mail for John Sheridan of the City Law Department is: JSheridan@ci.wilmington.de.us
