Harvard president Drew G. Faust announced that the university would stop construction of the $1 billion state-of-the-art science complex in March, to give the university time to determine alternative ways to finance the project.

With the completion and design of the science complex uncertain, the university intends to lease an additional 100,000 square feet of property previously reserved for construction.
