I sent a request for information to TXDot about the road construction along MoPAC (Loop 1) at Wm Cannon in front of the Randalls. It looked like they were preparing to go over Wm Cannon. Then the construction seemed to stop. I was concerned about it because of all the the development approved for Stratus Properties in Circle C. Wm Cannon at MoPac is bad enough without all of the congestion the deveopment will bring in the future.

I talked to a Mr. Don Nyland, South Travis Area Engineer today about the work. It seems that a contractor donated about 2M worth of dirt if they would take it. SO, they just spread it out even though there are still a lot of environmental hurdles to get over.
There is paper work moving through the US Fish and Wildlife Service now to address environmental concerns. We should see construction start again sometime this summer if all goes well.

It sure will be nice to bypass that Wm Cannon intersction! If you want to know more, I have his contact number.

Thanks for the information

That explains all the dirt and then no work. Would you please post Mr. Nyland's phone number?

Here is the reponse I got from TxDOT with the contact information. Don was

Dear Mr. Quinn: We are hoping a contract on the William Cannon project
will be awarded this summer or fall. However, that will depend on
successful negotiation with the US Fish and Wildlife Service regarding
environmental concerns in the area. For additional information on this
project, you may contact Mr. Don Nyland, South Travis Area Engineer, at
(512) 447-3942. Thanks for taking the time to write and we appreciate
your interest in our transportation system.
