Minutes of 11/13/02 CEC Association Meeting

Nov 17, 2002

Minutes of the 11/13/02 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 12:04 pm in the Staff Lounge at CEC by president Mark Hayden.

Minutes of the previous meeting were not read due to the absence of the secretary, Naomi Garcia.

The treasurer Ray Kidd reported that approximately $600 was in the treasury at this time.

Committee Reports were suspended so that more time could be given to the following two issues.

Old Business

Compressed Calendar: The group discussed their concerns about the effect of the Compressed Calendar on the faculty and programs at CEC. Greg Lee presented an advance copy of a memo from Dr. Kossler in regard to the status of the Compressed Calendar which was adopted by the Board of Trustees. (See "The Compressed Calender, Its History and Implications, Part 2" in this newsletter) No motions were presented.

New Business:

Resignation of Paul Martin: Mark Hayden read the e-mail from PCC President Dr. James Kossler which was a censorship of the Perspectives newsletter in regard to promoting CTA issues, and he explained the circumstances surrounding the resignation of Paul Martin from the Association as editor and President-Elect. A discussion followed. A motion was made by Ray Kidd to not respond to the censorship, but since there was not a quorum present, the motion was tabled until the December meeting.

Meeting was adjourned at 1:00 pm.
